Long Products Canada inspires with stories and steel
Le club des jeunes aciéristes is an educational initiative for elementary school children in Quebec, Canada. It is designed by the Blue Metropolis Foundation in collaboration with ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada. This unique program, part of The Young Steelworkers’ Club, combines writing workshops with scientific discoveries.
Get inspired by the steelmaking process
📌 Nearly 150 young participants from elementary schools in Contrecoeur and Varennes took part in writing workshops inspired by the steelmaking process, imaginatively synthesized by Long Products Canada experts Manon Wennagel, Charles-Cédric Dionne and Karine Roy. 🫶
Unpublished texts by children’s authors
📌 The project also includes the participation of three professional authors who, in turn, have been inspired by the life cycle of steel to create unique works that enrich the project.
An exhibition of written productions
📌 Excerpts from the young participants’ works were illustrated by Paul Martin (author and illustrator) as part of an exhibition presented in the Contrecoeur and Varennes municipal libraries in April and May respectively, as well as at the Blue Metropolis International Literature Festival held from April 24 to 27.
A successful first year for Le club des jeunes aciéristes, we aim to extend the activity to more classes and schools next year. You can view excerpts of the students’ texts (in French) along with their corresponding illustrations, which were showcased during the exhibition, on the program’s dedicated web page.
