Charles Fréchette becomes Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer of ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada, effective February 5, 2021. He joins our Management Committee and reports to our President and CEO, François Perras.
In his new role, Mr. Fréchette will contribute to an efficient management of ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada’s material resources through proactive relationships with our suppliers. His team focuses on responding to internal users’ requirements while maximizing value for our company. The Procurement group is also in charge of purchasing our raw materials including scrap supply, which is essential for steel production at our facilities, as well as the coordination of our Energy-related activities.
Charles Fréchette has been part of the ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada team since 2012. Prior to this appointment, he was acting since 2018 as General Manager of our Wire Group and was previously Director, Planning, Financial Analysis and Control in our Finance and Accounting group. In the past, he worked for companies such as Aveos Fleet Performance and GE Capital and for the fund manager Fondaction.
Our former Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer, François Théorêt, has been appointed Commercial Vice President of the Integrated Metal Recycling (IMR) joint venture, mutually held by ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada and Triple M Metal.
