Tentative Agreement at the ArcelorMittal Contrecoeur and Longueuil facilities
CONTRECOEUR, February 9, 2016 – ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada management and the United Steelworkers-FTQ agreed yesterday on the terms of a new global agreement for renewal of the bargaining contracts covering about 800 union employees at the Contrecoeur East and Longueuil facilities.
The agreements cover the operations and maintenance employees of the Contrecoeur East steelworks, bar mill and reduction plant (local 6586), Contrecoeur East office employees (local 8060) and operations and maintenance employees of the Longueuil bar mill (local 8897).
The proposal will be presented to the union members for ratification during special general meetings to be held in the coming days.
ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada will not issue any additional comments about the agreement in order to respect the ratification process.
